Pueblo Youth Suicide Prevention Coord (PT)

We’re looking for a Pueblo Youth Suicide Prevention Coordinator to join our Emergency Services team located at 1302 Chinook Lane in Pueblo, Colorado.

What You’d Be Doing

As the Pueblo Youth Suicide Prevention Coordinator you would be working twenty hours per week in a grant-based position that addresses the current public health issue of youth suicide. You would be both learning and informing others about evidence based suicide prevention programs. Your passion to motivate others will lead to greater local involvement in this statewide initiative as you coordinate with youth-serving institutions and agencies, including schools, educational institutions, juvenile justice systems, foster care systems, substance abuse and mental health programs, and other child and youth supporting organizations in Pueblo County.

The Pueblo Youth Suicide Prevention Coordinator

  • Provides local leadership and implements youth suicide prevention grant elements in the identified counties within the Southern region of the Colorado Crisis System, supported through technical assistance from the Office of Suicide Prevention;
  • Supports the implementation of local networking and coalition-building;
  • Coordinates with existing coalitions, workgroups, alliances, and agencies in the Colorado Crisis System region;
  • Participates in the development of cross-system communication channels to improve care coordination for youth;
  • Evaluates for implementation of programming and grant activity reach and implements comprehensive youth suicide prevention efforts within the Southern region.
  • Recruits for identified trainings for professional and community members including support for implementation of Zero Suicide within Pueblo;
  • Engages sites for Sources of Strength and the Follow Up Project.
  • Builds community capacity in Pueblo County to identify, assess for risk, and refer individuals ages 10-24 for mental health or related interventions;
  • Builds community capacity in Pueblo county to ensure individuals ages 10-24 receive mental health or related services after referral;
  • Submits bi-monthly reports, deliverables, and final report; and
  • Other job duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For—The Must-Haves

  • Baccalaureate degree in a social services field
  • Colorado driver’s license and access to transportation during work hours
  • Evidence of personal passion regarding youth suicide prevention
  • Exceptional documentation and computer skills, including MS Office Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to coordinate with multiple community-based agencies and systems
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
